Are you a Jerry?

Are you a Jerry? If you answered no you probably are an avid skier or snowboard. If you don’t know what a Jerry is then I hope you never become one. If your name is actually Jerry, sorry for the confusion this article has nothing to do with you.

A Jerry in the skiing world is someone who, “exhibits a true lack of understanding for their sport, or for life in general.” –Jerry of the day. Jerry’s can also be defined as Gaper, Joey, or Gorb.

You will most likely find Jerry’s launching uncontrollably off of that brand new jump they just put in the terrain park. If you are un-lucky enough to be that Jerry, just make sure someone is filming you. Getting plenty of “footy for the boys” might just immortalize you in the Jerry hall of fame.

See, the Jerry’s that are lucky enough to be caught on film will most likely end up on the Instagram account called Jerry of the day. The people that end up here are prime examples of what you do not want to do at a ski resort.

Not becoming a Jerry is good for your health. 4 out of 5 Doctors recommend not being a Jerry. That 5th doctor, he is a Jerry. Don’t listen to him. Yes it’s true. When you borrow your uncles ski gear from the 80’s and decide to “huck it” off the edge of that cat track you might just end up in the hospital.

The sad truth is that everyone is at risk for being a Jerry. Even the best skiers in the world are not immune. If you find yourself questioning whether or not to hit that sick kicker ask yourself, “How likely am I to be the Jerry of the day?” and then hit that sucker, because if there is one thing that we all respect it is the send.

Shred the Gnar Pow Pow…

Unless you are a ski bum or know a ski bum you probably don’t hear the term gnar pow pow very often. According to the highly trusted urban dictionary the term gnar pow pow means really good fresh snow. A variation of saying, “gnarly powder.” For example “Let’s go shred the pow pow gnar gnar!”

2017 has already experienced record snowfall on the west coast. My home town of Central Point Oregon experienced more snow than it had seen since 1911. This is good news for the skiers of the world. Record snowfall means skiing heaven for those in search of the mighty pow.

So how do you find this glorious pow? Well this blog is your answer. It will have everything the average ski bum could want. Yes ski bums can use the Internet.  If there is pow pow to know about, you will hear about it first from this blog. If there is an epic ski story you can bet you’ll find it here. If there is good deal on that ski jacket you’ve wanted since last year the ski blog has got you covered.

Skiing is what keeps the winters alive. Without skiing what else is there to do in the winter? You could binge watch the Office for the third time this week, or you could get outside and live a little. We are just helping you live for the pow.
